The Internet search engine Google has been awarded the Prince of Asturias Award Communication and Humanities . considered the best search engine in Internet history, Google allows millions of users around the world access to a universe of knowledge and information is extremely fast and organized. Its creation has meant a revolution in access to all types of content, reinventing the technical principles which were governed by the search engines.
In its ruling, the jury justified the decision to award the prize to Google ' to put instantly and selectively available to millions of people the internet channel and promote widespread access to knowledge' . The jury has also stressed his 'decisive contribution to the progress of peoples, regardless of frontiers ideological, economic, linguistic or racial' to choose the winning , after seven ballots.
This application was given by José Luis Pardos, Ambassador of Spain and member of the jury. Is supported by Al Gore, Prince of Asturias Award for International Cooperation 2007 , and Vinton G. Cerf, Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research 2002 .

In order to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful to anyone with Internet access Americans Sergey Brin and Larry Page created Google ten years ago and have managed to bring the most innovative technology for knowledge, breaking all records of effectiveness. Sergey Brin (Moscow, 1973) and Larry Page (Michigan, USA, 1973) developed in early 1996 that a search engine called BackRub , whose main feature was the analysis of back links , links pointing to a page determined. The Prince of Asturias Awards are intended , according to the laws of the Foundation to reward 'The scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanistic work performed by individuals, groups or institutions working in the international arena' . In this spirit, the Prince of Asturias Award Communication and Human communities 'will be awarded to the person, group of persons or institution whose creative work or research represents a significant contribution to universal culture in these fields' .
