Altruism and Globalization ...

Throughout this year, an international group of scientists has been working out the existence of any relationship between the levels of inter-country cooperation and technological development.

Basically the research team held two hypotheses. One of them indicated that globalization is creating a sense of belonging in people resulting in the need to find ways to differentiate themselves. For its part, the other postulated something totally opposite, stating that altruistic behavior increases with globalization, as a result of the reduction of barriers is to increase cooperation between individuals.

The research involved participation in a game about resource utilization, in which each player received 10 cards that could later be reversed, at its option, on a personal business, local or global. To do this, 1145 people were selected from different locations geographical, resulting in selected countries such as Argentina, Iran, Russia, South Africa, USA and Italy.

The game was developed under a series of assumptions, under which, if invested in an individual business, the participant kept his stack of chips, however, investment in local business, required the help of three others that would be chosen anonymously and bend the initial investment had been made. Finally, if they wanted to participate in a global business, then formed a number of teams within which were including the three local business partners and eight others under the promise of tripling its investment.

The counterpoint of the matter was that if a particular participant, was the only person to fund a global or local business, or if the other participants put little or no relationship to what he had invested, the business would inevitably in failure.

The resulting pattern found by scientists, shows that those living in more globalized countries such as United States and Italy, have no problem in cooperating with others and invest in global business, while for residents in countries like Iran, with a lower rate of globalization, the tendency is to invest in accounts local.

Although the research team was able to establish a correlation between globalization and the tendency of an individual to cooperate with others regardless of the distance between their places of residence, were unable to find an explanation for the origin of this behavior. Are religious factors, cultural, or politicians who may be involved? ...

certainly an interesting question to think about these dates ... .. and when we reached our own conclusions, I would like to wish the best for this holiday and next year 2010.

Cranberry And Red Stools

Award for a symbol of the digital ... @ er.

American engineers Raymond Samuel Tomlinson and Martin Cooper were honored Wednesday with the Prince of Asturias Award for Research Science and Technology 2009, for his work on email and mobile telephony.

Cooper is considered the 'father ' mobile phone and author of the first of its kind. Tomlinson was the one who had the idea to use the at sign (@) between the user and domain in your emails.

Cooper is considered the 'father' of mobile phones and author of the first of its kind. Tomlinson was the one who had the idea to use the at sign (@) between the user and the domain in their email electronic.

However, behind these developments is a curious story ...
.
In fact, that strange symbol that looks like a letter 'a' enclosed by a line extending from itself, like a tail of the letter, now so popular through e-mail, is actually an ancient symbol of measure equivalent to a quarter of a hundredweight. A quintal is a unit of weight and volume used in Spain and Latin America representing 46.0093 kg A @, then exactly equivalent to 11.502 Kg.

The term comes from the Arabic, 'ar-rub' , ' four' or ' quarter' . The earliest written documentation that you have the @ symbol dating back to 1,500. This is a correspondence between merchants of Seville and Rome, in detailing the content of some ships from the New Continent, the symbol used to specify the quantities of spices and wine arrived.

Thus, for centuries, the prosperous sailed @ Venetian ports to all corners of the British naval empire, through the Arab world and Spain. The ' at' was used in Load the registers that were docked on the shores of Arabian and English with a meaning equivalent to ' price' . Venetian merchants used the ' amphora. "

But while the origin of the symbol is related to the measures, as handwriting is even older. Latin was written in a combination of A and D , an almost superimposed on another, to eventually lead to the current symbol.

's relationship with email @ only due to chance and discard. In 1971, one of the engineers now just winning, Ray Tomlinson, the creator of the email, I needed a symbol to identify the new communication protocol. Keyboard, the only one left free without being used even in programming languages \u200b\u200bwas precisely this @ . ' could have been easier to use a bracket, a parenthesis or a comma, but these symbols and was used for other things and characters that were free, the @ was the best' , Tomlinson has had recently. ' addition, another point in favor of this symbol is that when translated as' at 'in English was a sense of location' .

The first email did not travel a great distance, just one meter, from one computer to another, but this protocol would revolutionize the ways to communicate, much as several years later would protocol 'http' and the ' WWW. "

The first e-mail address of the story is tomlinson @ bbn-TENEX . This address means ' Tomlinson' in (@) Host 'BBN-TENEX' .

What To Write In A Wedding Card For A Sister

threats coming ...

Banker Trojans and fake antivirus will be the most malicious code present in a close time on the network, according to Panda. The security company that stands out to other social networks will be increasingly exploited by codes designed to perform actions such as stealing confidential data.

computer systems often suffer from security problems, but if users do not act when the manufacturer creates solutions for closing holes, the situation worsens. A clear example is what happened with the virus Cornficker , Also known as Dwnadup , which has infected millions of computers worldwide by exploiting a vulnerability in Windows systems.

According to security firm Qualys Inc this malicious software exploits a security operating system that was resolved by Microsoft October 23 last year. But the company figures show that 30% of users have downloaded and installed the patch provided by the company for the code (MS08-067 ), so that these systems are still vulnerable and become potential victims long after that there is a solution and the result is an unprecedented spread, as shown by the reports made by F-Secure .

Once a computer has been infected, the virus can copy itself to other machines on the same network, so that all computers within an enterprise are affected quickly. Then, to avoid detection, it connects to a website from which it downloads new versions of itself, usually more advanced. Using these techniques is placing computers under their control, making them slave systems which can then be used to carry out cyber attacks, online fraud or distribute unsolicited mail.

about the same time that the Internet generation stood at the White House a favorite son of Chicago, the city expects to host the Games Olympic foreseeable end of the mandate of Obama in 2016 - seen as one of its most prestigious journalistic icons, the Chicago Tribune , fell into the spiral of newspapers in bankruptcy. Amid the shock and disbelief for the inability reference headers to maintain its advertising appeal, seek new forms of financing and innovative leap to network with different products and services to digital media and the great monsters of the search on the Internet, journalists have emerged as victims and have not stopped to think that with chronic were designing a product that has ended in many cases, creating confusion or indifference in a reader does not expect to find credibility in the role.

Paradoxically, many of the journalists who resisted the new times, have launched social networks like facebook to start campaigning for regular consumption (' Save a journalist, buy a newspaper ').

you die, then, the paper? Will it become the reporter of race, rigor and common sense, an endangered species? Obviously not. But both the media and the journalist should take responsibility for change and to provide surfers with what the network does not offer: A discriminating guide to understanding and more than one billion pages found on the web.

Welcome Message For Wedding

cyber ...

change.gov In , the website opened Barack Obama for the transition of power, a section inviting citizens to submit their ideas for the new government. In www.change.org , an advocacy network, people are discussing what action should be first on the agenda of the White House. ' Create a more interactive government' is at the moment, one that has won more votes.

During the long 21 months-long campaign U.S. election, including primary, a citizen army helped the Democratic candidate for votes and money through email, SMS, telephone, virtual support groups and the traditional door to door. So far, the story is far too much of the vision we all have for any election campaign. But if you look at the figures achieved by the network of support for Obama , obvious difference. According to calculations made on the eve of the elections by the American expert in social networking Jeremiah Owyang ( web-strategist.com/blog ), 2,379,102 people watched the candidate through Facebook ; 112,474 did so in Twitter and 833,161 in MySpace . In total, 380% assembled followers over his opponent, Republican John McCain.

But it does not end there: the 1792 Obama-related videos posted on YouTube since November 2006 were viewed 18,413,110 times, a 905% higher than those of McCain.
